The Hydroseed Option for Your New Lawn

by | Jun 21, 2016

Here is a common Michigan summer scenario: The builders have packed up their tools and your new house is ready for you to move in! It looks great, but the lawn? Non-existent. You want a nice area of turf for the kids to play on and to enhance the beauty of your property. You could call Bosch’s Landscaping and let our expert team hydroseed your lawn!

We start by preparing the soil for planting. Then, we brew up a batch of hydroseed mix. It contains grass seed (tailored to your situation), fertilizer, wood fiber or cellulose mulch, and water. These ingredients are all mixed in an agitator and then sprayed through a hose onto the prepared soil. Our teams know how to get complete and even coverage so your final lawn is full and green.

The cellulose mulch helps protect the seed from blowing away and drying out, and once the grass germinates in a week or two, the fibers begin breaking down and providing nutrients for the new growth. We’ll instruct you about watering and keeping traffic off the new lawn for the first weeks as the grass keeps growing and filling out.

At about 4 weeks it can be tall enough for your first mow. We usually recommend doing this when the grass is a good 3 inches tall, but cutting only a third or less of the blade length off. You will need to continue watering, mowing, and maintaining a well balanced fertilization program (Bosch’s can provide a fertilization program for you).

To change your barren lot into a fresh, green, beautiful lawn, call Bosch’s Landscape & Lawn Specialties, Inc. in Holland, MI at (616) 399-6861 and we’ll come out and give you an estimate. It will be money well spent to save you hours of backbreaking labor and give you a new lawn sooner than doing it yourself the old-fashioned way.
